This Soft Touch Double First Base provides the fielder and the runner their own separate base to step on — helps reduce the chance for collisions at first base. Bases are "progressive release" bases which are designed to help prevent injuries during short and hard slides. The base is designed to flex and absorb energy as the player slides into the base. In the case of a hard slide, the base "pops off" its mount because of the force applied — unlike a stationary base. Bases are made of durable polyurethane that flexes, absorbs energy and is cut-resistant.
Although this base is designed to reduce sliding injuries, it is not a substitute for using proper sliding techniquesWith the Soft Touch double first base, both fielder and runner have their own base, to reduce the chance of collision. Molded from a cut-resistant polyurethane, the 7” stem fits into a ground mount. Orange side is anchored under base with a hammer-in spike that is provided. Note: This base is not a release style base due to the dual anchor system.
