Koob™ - A Throwing and Strategy Game

Koob is for 2 - 12 kids per game that requires thinking and cooperation to win.

Koob originated in Viking days - 1000 years ago. The throwing skill is a basic underhand toss that anyone can master. The strategy of the game requires players to cooperate and participate in every play. A variety of playing surfaces are effective - grass, sand, dirt, rubber court and even carpet - but each requires different strategies. Koob sets up quickly on an area 20-24 ft. x 15 ft. (just pace it off, no special measuring tools are needed). The fundamental rules of the game are simple to present and as kids play they recognize the options and combinations of play to figure out the best strategy for their team. Play includes offense, defense, and plenty of momentum shifts. Koob is made from durable hardwood with a beautiful finish and comes in a pack-cloth, zippered bag. The instructions contain all the rules plus tips on strategy and are printed on water-proof paper. Koob comes with suggestions for integrating Koob into school curriculum (the Viking era, math variations, and cooperative activity). Koob (game, instructions, curriculum, and bag - 12 lbs.)

How the game is played:
The team to start is determined by an initial toss of sticks. Teams alternate throwing six sticks per turn trying to topple the blocks on their opponent's baseline. Once blocks are knocked over, they are in play and are thrown to the opposite half of the field. The basic strategy of the game is to accumulate most of the blocks on your team's side of the field. Team members take turns throwing the blocks and the sticks, and decide together how to try to position the blocks to advantage. With 6 sticks and 10 blocks, teams must try to hit doubles and even triples to gain dominance. A team wins by toppling all the blocks on their opponent's side of the field and then knocking over the king. As skills improve, the playing area can be expanded to keep the game challenging.
